We are both lucky to have great families with whom we are close.  Both of our parents have been married for close to 40 years now, and have been good examples to us of long happy marriages.  Shawn's parents live about 30 minutes from our house, and my parents are less than 10 minutes away.  I see my parents at least once a week, and we visit with Shawn's parents a few times a month.  Shawn has a brother who is married with one daughter.  Shawn also has a sister who is married with two sons.  I have a sister who is married with a daughter and a son, and I also have a brother who is still single.  Any child who came into our family would have loving grandparents and lots of aunts, uncles and cousins.  Both of our families have been very supportive of our decision to adopt and are looking forward to adding another child to the family.  With our extended family and friends, we have a wonderful support network for adoption.  My Mom has 2 close cousins who were adopted into the family through her uncle. We also have close friends who recently adopted an infant, and there are families at our church who have adopted as well.  We hope that having such a support group will be helpful for us as parents and for our child.
